Once upon a time, fishing was the lifeblood of Doolin, but that has since changed for no other reason than economics. Fishing in the traditional sense is no longer commercially viable here, with the exception of lobster fishing. However, if you fancy casting your line, you can do it at any point along the Clare coastline as long as you’re happy to scramble over a few rocks to find a good spot. You could even ask around for a fisherman or someone with a boat to take you out on the water for some deep sea angling. Alternatively, you might consider trying your luck at lake fishing – Luogh Lough is about 4 kms from Doolin on your way to the Cliffs of Moher.
